Candy Charcuterie Boxes are super popular right now, but they can be pretty pricy! I knew I could DIY them for much less and with the help of good ol’ Dollar Tree, I did just that… and you can too! Here’s how I made two completely custom candy charcuterie boxes for just $5 each. Mine are for Valentine’s Day, but these would make an adorable gift for just about any occasion.
What you’ll need from Dollar Tree:
• A few bags of small candy that will fit into the spaces of the boxes. I used 5 bags of candy to fill the two boxes and it was just enough. Keep in mind the colors of the candies when purchasing. To get the custom look, you want to have a color scheme that makes sense for the occasion.
• Exterior decorations. I used rhinestone stickers, a cake topper, and gold sparkle vinyl to customize my boxes. If you do not own a cutting machine, grab a pack of letter stickers instead.
Before you jump into making the boxes you’ll want to do three things:
1. Wash and completely dry the boxes.
2. Clean your hands! (Sorry I’m a germaphobe, had to say it!)
3. Separate the candies out by color. (I got a little lazy on the skittles…)
Once you’re set up, start filling the boxes using one type/color candy to fill each section. You’ll want to make sure you’re filling them up tight so they don’t move around too much when you close the lid. The candies I chose were Sixlets, Wild Berry Skittles, Sour Patch Strawberries, Conversation Hearts and Swedish Fish as I wanted a Valentine’s Color Scheme.
Once filled, close the top and decorate it. For one box I used a “Happy Valentine’s Day” cake topper that I simply cut the stick off of, then glued on using E6000 glue. For the other box I used the glitter vinyl to cut out my daughter’s name then used rhinestone stickers around the edges. (Note on the Crafter’s Square Glitter Vinyl – It’s more like paper and less like vinyl. On my Cricut Explore Air II I used one setting below “Vinyl” for cutting and it worked well.) Finally use an X-Acto knife or a precise scissor to trim the hang tab off the side.
How sweet are they? (Candy pun!) I absolute love how mine came out and my wheels are already spinning on when I’ll be able to make more of these adorable and inexpensive Candy Charcuterie Boxes! Will you be giving this a try? Drop a comment below and let me know if you do!
Project Note – My Dollar Tree is still only $1. If your Dollar Tree is now $1.25 this project will cost you just a little bit more!
