Happy Summer! Things are finally starting to feel a little bit normal around here and we’ve been getting out of the house more. One of my daughter’s favorite things to do is to head over to our town’s farmers market on the weekends. Her love for this little trip gave me an idea on how to change up the wood play stand I built for her…
Welcome to Abby’s Farmers Market! You can find the full tutorial for the play stand build here.
To switch from cafe to market, I needed to make a few things. First was to sew a new awning. Using this red gingham fabric and the same letter stickers & fabric glue I used on her original awning, I gave the play stand a whole new look. Then using burlap ribbon I made a new garland to hang along the back.
All of the other accessories I had on hand. The basket was from a gift we received. I lined it with a gingham tea towel and collected felt fruits and veggies from her play kitchen to fill it. The felt foods were from the Target Dollar Spot a few years back, but a similar set can be found here. The veggie boxes and money box are from a Fisher Price Farmers Market set. The faux tree is actually from Target holiday clearance. I had originally purchased it to use with her outdoor play house, but I wound up using real plants instead.
I changed up the chalkboard text (Yes, we’re Jersey girls!) and as a finishing touch, I quickly sewed up an apron for her to wear when she’s “working” in the stand.
How cute? (If I don’t say so myself!) Now we can go to the Farmers Market whenever she wants to!
