I’m happy to participate in my first Bloggers Do It Better assignment. (Have no idea what I’m talking about? Check out Bloggers Do It Better at Pretty Shiny Sparklyby clicking on the shiny new badge in the right sidebar.) Cadette Kelly reporting for BDIB: Military Chic!
When I was planning my military chic outfit (at oh-seven-hundred-hours this morning, in my closet), I realized I had quite a few pieces that were slightly military inspired. Since no one single piece stood out as “military”, I knew I could mix the pieces to get the desired look without looking like G.I. Jane.
I started with my army green cargo pants, as they seemed like the obvious place to start. My gray button down was next. It has big square pockets like an army shirt, though they are blocked by my jacket, which I added for a feminine shape. It reminds me of a 16th century riding coat (vintage military!) To play up the chic in my military chic look, I added a fun pin that looks like a medal and my big gold watch that’s unfortunately not on military time. Boots are clearly a must for any military look, but I wanted something softer than a chunky lace-up boot. My brown Steve Maddens did the trick and added a little more femininity with the small heel. Finally, my gold and brown bag gave the look a touch of bling and my military chic look was complete – sir, yes sir!

You def killed with this assignment! Awesome pairings of the colors and the gold accents (Pin, watch, chain straps) really set the outfit off! LOVE it!

Thanks so much! I’ve actually had that pin for a while and never wore it. Came in handy for this BDIB!

Love the whole look! How do you get your hair to be curled just at the bottom like that? I’ve always tried and failed!
I’ve got a “What I Wore” linky on Wednesdays if you’d like to join in, too!

Thank you! I get it like that by blowing it out with a round brush and twisting the hair before I pull it off the still hot brush. I hold it for a moment so it can cool, and I get a loose curl effect at the bottom only. I’ll be checking out your link!
