I’ve had these pants for a very long time. Such a long time that if my pants were a child, they’d be in the 3rd grade now. And like a child, I never had the heart to sell them or give them away (that’s a joke, just in case you thought I was serious.) I loved the cut, the color and the material but they just simply weren’t in style… Until now. With 70’s pants making a come back, I took on my next closet challenge.
The pants are loud on their own and wearing a solid top would only make them stand out more, so I wanted a top with a pattern. My new Missoni for Target shell had a tiny bit of the same color as the pants in it and added a touch of sparkle. I happen to have the matching scarf, which I never planned on wearing together, but it worked here. It made the top look like it had a cowl neck. Too chilly to just wear the shell, I threw on a brown open cardigan that served as function, but also added a nice layer to the outfit. Some gold, brown and red jewelry complimented the top and the bag I wore. A pair of comfortable round toe wedges added the height I needed for the pants, but kept me comfortable all day long.
Lesson learned here: If you hang onto something for long enough it’s going to come back in style. What old pieces do you have that are now back in style?
